Honor Roll: Awarded to students who have at least a B average for the nine weeks with no grade less than a C.
- Principal’s List: Designated for those students who earn a grade of A in all classes for the nine weeks.
8TH GRADE STUDENT OF THE YEAR
8th grade students who maintain a 3.5 or above will be placed on a ballot for faculty to select the top 10. Those 10 students can complete an application for student of the year. They must also submit a biographical sketch with a list of achievements, leadership, and community service. The deadline for packets is just that; it is a deadline. No exceptions 15 will be made for packets that are submitted after the deadline. A committee then scores the students on the submitted items using a rubric provided the district. The top three of then chosen to give an interview to be selected as the schools’ student of the year.
END OF THE YEAR AWARDS
Subject awards are given to the student with the highest GPA of each class in each grade level. A Citizenship award is voted on by the teachers and awarded to a one boy and girl from each grade level. We also have awards for Panther Excellence for maintaining a 4.0 for the entire school year. As well as the Panther Merit award for maintaining a 3.0 or higher for the entire school year. Finally, we have the Tommy Bourgeois Honor and Integrity award that goes to an 8th grade boy and girl student-athlete who exemplifies these values.
8TH GRADE PROMOTION CEREMONY
Students must pass academically to participate in the eighth-grade ceremony. Students must pass English and mathematics to participate in the ceremony. Students failing any of the following may not participate in the ceremony: ELA or Mathematics or both science and social studies or two minor subjects (i.e. PE, music, band, etc). Students failing based on attendance may not participate in the ceremony.
PANTHER PROWLERS Students who meet the following criteria are awarded a jeans day on Wednesday for the nine weeks.
These students must:
1. Receive no major referrals
2. No recess detentions
3. Good attendance
