The principal will contact the parent or legal guardian to discuss the parent’s/legal guardian’s responsibility to enforce the student’s attendance as well as the civil penalties that may be incurred if the student is habitually absent (RS 14:92.2). |
| Absence 5 |
The parent/legal guardian must attend a mandatory conference with the principal or designee to discuss make-up work and recovery options. The parent/legal guardian will be informed that for additional unexcused absences, the student will be referred to the district’s Truancy Support Panel. |
| Absence 7 |
The principal or designee will notify the Truancy Support Panel. A truancy hearing will be scheduled. |
| Absence 10 |
The student will be referred to the proper court. Here the court will determine the civil penalties that may be incurred, the need for prosecution, and/or the sanctions placed upon the student and parents/legal guardians. |
